Marcus Isaiah is a Washington, DC based movement artist, choreographer, and artistic director whose work explores the depth and complexity of the human experience through physically driven, contemporary movement. A proud alumnus of Suitland High School’s Center for Visual and Performing Arts, Marcus developed his artistic foundation within a rigorous pre-professional training environment that shaped his discipline, artistry, and commitment to storytelling.

He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he expanded his practice across modern and contemporary techniques and refined his voice as both a performer and choreographer. His work is characterized by its emotional honesty, athleticism, and narrative depth often engaging themes of resilience, identity, vulnerability, and transformation.

Marcus is the Founder, Executive, and Artistic Director of Textures Dance Theatre, a contemporary company dedicated to advancing modern dance and amplifying Black-led artistic expression in the Washington, DC region. His choreographic work includes MANIFEST, which premiered at the Kennedy Center, NOËL: The Dancical, currently in creative residence at Dance Place and TEXTURES, which premiered at the Prince George’s Publick Playhouse, and continues to evolve through interdisciplinary productions that bridge performance, design, and cultural storytelling.

In addition to his creative work, Marcus serves as the Director of Dance at The Conway Academy, where he leads training and artistic development for emerging dancers. He is also an Artist Partner at the Creative Suitland Arts Center and a member of the Thresholds Artist Advisory Council at Dance Place, contributing to the cultivation of community-centered programming and the advancement of artists within the DC dance ecosystem.

Through both his artistic and educational leadership, Marcus remains committed to creating transformative experiences and cultivating the next generation of artists, using dance as a powerful vehicle for connection, reflection, and impact.
