Camille Weanquoi is a freelance dancer, teacher, choreographer, and mentor from Bronx, NY. She holds an MFA in Choreography from Wilson College, a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Winston Salem State University. Camille’s commitment to community and the growth and preservation of dance in our world has expanded her artistry and community offerings. With that, she is the owner and visionary director of Camille W. Dance. Her dance education and cultural consulting company provides arts and culture integration strategies to arts educators of all levels and quality dance training for private studios and community programs, as well as assists local and national theaters with curating culturally diverse arts programming. Camille W. Dance also manages a professional pick-up performance company, Akani Collective. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of Baltimore Black Dance Collective and co-founder and co-director of Baltimore Black Choreographers Festival. She is also training as a Dunham Technique Teacher Certification candidate. With her background in and love for West African and Contemporary African dance forms, she currently creates, performs, and teaches African diasporic dances and other dance styles throughout the Baltimore/D.C. area and beyond.
