Anastasia Johnson (she/her) is a dynamic dance artist, performer, educator, curator, and choreographer. Currently, she holds the title as Education Director at Dance Place in Washington, DC. Johnson has performed with companies and artists such as, dani tirrell and Congregation, Juanita Maria Dance Company, Coyaba Dance Company, Liz Miller, Jamison Curcio& Shanice Mason, ReVision Dance Company, Soka Tribe, Camille W. Dance & Co., Ni Dembaya African Drum and Dance Ensemble and New Growth Collective. A.J. Collabs (AJC) is a movement based company she created that uses the vehicle of education, community engagement, collaboration, performance, and choreography to shed light on the different black culture experiences. AJC has had the opportunity to perform at them Small Plates Festival, Ascending Choreographer’s Festival, National Choreography Month DC, Black Choreographer Festival, Layers V.3, Dance in the DMV Festival, Richmond Dance Festival, Coalescence: A Visual and Performing Arts Showing, and co-present work at Dance Place. Most recently, AJC presented Color Me (Curly): Detangled Stories, tales of Black hair, history, and healing, at Atlas Performing Arts Center as a part of the Intersections Festival 2026. Johnson is an alumni of the 202Creates Residency Program, a former Emerging Artist for the BlackLight Summit Emerging Artist Laboratory, a former Residency Artist for the Atlas Arts Lab, has been featured in a DanceTeacher Magazine and Washington City Paper articles, and holds a certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship from Cornell University.
